Purple and pink bow
« on: January 30, 2024, 01:24:37 PM »
I'm having Jim Neaves (great guy and bowyer) at Centaur make me a super curve. I would like most of the riser to be a mid to dark purple with some pink accents. I know Dymondwood is no longer, so purple is more difficult to come by. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. My daughter passed in 2015, and I would like to have my next and last bow in her two favorite colors. Again, any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Spectraply, I believe it’s called dark knight.
caught between:If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and can’t leave well enough alone.

Thanks-Nip. Do the Dymondwoods, Spectafly, Dymalux and so on, have basically the same properties?

I’ve built several bows using highly figured Maple in the riser and Transtint dye dissolved in isopropyl alcohol to add beautiful colors. I have done a few purple risers and several in green for hunting, and they all look great.  Richard

You can mix any of the Transtint colors together until you get the color you want. The different shades in these two bows are the result of the grain in the Maple. I always keep several slats of the same wood in the riser handy to test the dye and how looks. Look at several YouTube videos on how to dye electric guitars.....you will learn a lot!   Richard
