A Stolen Day (poem)
« on: February 16, 2007, 12:58:00 PM »
When time goes flying way to fast
and life is spinning round
You need to slam the brakes on friend
and get your feet back on the ground

We're only here for a short time and the stress we do not need
Oh do not let life pass you by,
My words I hope you'll heed

To work and toil,to sweat and slave
is the price that we must pay
But don't forget to reward yourself with a single stolen day

To sit back on a riverbank, the water and clouds roll by
When you take yourself away from the race
you'll start to wonder why

You'll wonder why you work so hard
for things you could do without
When everything you really need the Lord has placed about

The streams to fish, the forest to hunt, the fields for us to walk
For here in God's great wonderland
You'll have no need for a clock

So steal the day and slip away
with rod or bow in hand
And know in your heart that money and wealth
can never measure a man

Gary Blackburn

An excellent poem Gary, with a good message.   :clapper:
We live in the present, we dream of the future, but we learn eternal truths from the past
When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.
Life is like a wet sponge, you gotta squeeze it until you get every drop it has to offer

Very nicely said. Years ago I realized this too and have striven to simplify my life. Too many think having more things or making more money will help them find happiness. They have been molded and enslaved by the system to go with the flow and be good consumers. Your poem nicely points out the rejuvination we can experiance just from a day of freedom.

It has been my goal to eliminate the need for money in anything I can, to appreciate the gifts of nature and the contentment of living a simple life. Sometimes people think I am crazy but your poem just reminded me why I left the rat race. Thanks.
