VPA 3 blade 1 1/4
« on: January 10, 2024, 07:51:51 PM »
Love to see some pics of game/blood trails or user experiences from using these heads.

I love the Iron Will wide’s & will always have one or two in my quiver, but the first animal I ever shot was with a 3 blade and I’d like to maybe use them as well!

I have seen VPA blood trails, not my own.  They are similar to Snuffers.

I don't have pics of bloodtrails, but have killed alot of critters with both the  1 1/8 and 1 1/4" vpa 3 blades.  Both are great heads and do a great job.  I don't have exact numbers, but of the hogs that I have killed, I would estimate that maybe 100-120 were using the standard vpa heads, and maybe 20 using the 1 1/4".  Most of these were with custom heads that were sold by RAYZOR and aren't made anymore, and had a nice profile like the 250 grain, but were vented and could be had i 175 and 200 grain weights.  I had consistantly better blood trails with the 1 1/4" heads, despite this being a fairly small sample size.

I killed a nice 8 point buck this year walking with a 200 grain 3 blade vpa. The shot busted through the elbow knuckle only got 6 inches penetration but completely disconnected the arteries from the top of the heart. The arrow broke off when he ran, only went 50 yards and crashed. When field dressing carefully reached in and removed Broadhead still sharp and no damage what so ever, so I’ll speak for their toughness.

VPA is a very solid head.

One only taken 1 with a 1-1/4 vpa.  Went completely through the deer just like the 1-1/8 did. Almost straight down shot just left of the spine and cut through like a champ.  Stuck in ground no damage out of a 44# asl.  They are so easy to sharpen, too.

Both of these from this year were shot with 200 grain 1.25 inch VPA's. The buck was at 26 yards and ran 40 yards. The doe was at 22 yards and ran 70 yards.

This one from last year was at 8 yards and made it about 100 yards.

If anyone is unsure, they can check out any of the Laredo Tusk Roundup hunt threads because 80% of the animals killed during all those hunts were with VPA 3 blades.

They are a great head and have served me a friends well over the years.  Wanted my buddy shoot a 200+ pig at 30 yards with a 200grain and get a complete pass thru with a 55# Big Jan made LB.
