Is it a NO-NO to call your bowyer before the due date just to see how things are comming along. I just want to decide whether I will be able to take my new bow on my elk hunt.

Nothing wrong with giving him a call to check on progress. Just my opinion.

I've done it and most of em are more than happy to tell you have everything is coming along. Just don't rush him, you want it to be perfect

Not to sound jaded but I have seen "the squeaky wheel get's the grease" in practice. I've always took the passive route and have seldom received a bow on time. Conversely, I've known several pro-active guys who got their bow on time or sooner. Bowyers are human and it doesn't hurt to show a little interest in the project. If he knows you have a specific deadline it just might be that he can help you or at least put aside any fears.
