I saw your post on another site.  Mine currently is a little over 7, but I think 7.5 would probably be good.  There is no way that I would go 8 or above.

Sorry I missed you call.  I was just finishing up work.  I'll try it at the low spot and go from there.  May twist the bottom string up a smidge.  Might need a bit of file work, it's not fully seating.

When I draw the bow the string doesn't return to the groove on the lower limb.  The string groove doesn't look "level" if that makes sense.  One side of the groove edge is a bit higher.

Filed the lower groove and it is better, still a little out of the groove.  I'll shoot tomorrow and go from there.  Brace is at 7-7 1/8", we'll see.

Yummy, once I found some arrows spined light enough for the Paul Bunyan 50#, so it didn't shoot sideways, the bow settled down.  The bow was very quiet with the woodies, but arrows were all over the place.  Initially, I found a 2117 with aluminum broadhead adapter and 190 grain point that shoot Ok at 10 yards.  Noticed the string was returning to the groove.  Then I dug up several 2020's with the same front end set-up and they were burying to the fletch in the block target.  I'll adjust nock point and that will get better.  Speed seemed good, perhaps a little better than the Big River 62" 54# mild D/R longbow with the heavy woodies.  These wood arrows were very stiff for the Paul Bunyan.  The RJ tab worked OK.  The Big Jim might need a smidgeon trimmed off.  Happy with performance of Fiberglas recurve bow.  I'll back up some tomorrow and see how it behaves.

Installed two pieces of wide para cord style sheath top and bottom at 18% of string length and it cut the bow noise to not much louder than a mouse fart.  Just a slight swish of feathers on release.  Brace is pretty good (7-7 1/8") and nock height is at line on my square.  Threw several three arrow groups 3-4" across out to 15 yards. (max for my place)  2020's flew well and CE Heritage 250's did well with 290 grains up front.  Really impressed with the performance of this old Fiberglas bow.  Can't wait to get out after hogs with it.

Fiddling around and find 7 1/2+ to be good.  More shooting this next week, early before temps get over 90 degrees.
