Yup…. That’s the thing about long lean wedges. If you mount them flat on the limb pad you can get flex in the wedge. What I did was put a very slight reflex in the wedge section of my forms so the air hose actually pushes a bit of reflex in the straight wedge during lay up…. You don’t need much, but it works well.  On my hybrid long bow limbs those limbs don’t even lay flat and touch at the end of the riser until you string them up. This actually does wonderful things for adding preload to your limbs loading up that wedge at brace.

Type of wedge material used can make a big difference too. Heavy limbs need good dense hardwood wedges, or something really stiff. Lighter weight limbs you can use walnut or different woods with less tensile strength. Curly maple is not a good wedge wood. That stuff flexes a lot.

My wedge thickness at the end of my risers run about 3/16” thick and go out there another 6.5”.   About 5/16 to nothing in a 12” wedge when milling. Finished wedges are 11.5 and 10.5” for medium and long limbs,  with a 4.75” limb pad length.  You can do the math if ya want. It works well.   Kirk

I’ve got a very old can of Johnson paste wax that is no longer paste at all. It’s closer to Johnson rock wax now…

But it works great for applying pin lube in your limbs. I heat the can with a heat gun until it starts to liquify, then use a Q tip.

Another thing I think with the wax - Vaseline or potty wax does is prettymuch shed all the moisture out also.

Big Jim told me that what he uses as lube on his two piece (fiberglass socket) takedown. I did use string wax b UT the ring wax is a bit more pliable and one ring will lube a bunch of bows,

That makes sense on a socket lube… you could gently heat it up to get it unstuck.
Those damn two piece sockets often become one piece bows…. I’ve never tried that system using glass, and don’t ever plan to… when someone asks me to build a two piece bow any more I just say no thank you, and pass.

I bet I got a couple potty rings on my shelf somewhere. I’ll have to give it a go sometime when the mood strikes me…

On the socket type TDs the key for them not changing with weather might be an composite I-beam where most of the tenon or all of the tenon is composite. Stabilized wood also would be good,
