The one to bring back

All, who is the one bowyer that if you could, would bring back to make bows again. I know there are too many to really list and it is sad to see how many are no longer with us or no longer making bows. For my vote I'm going to pick Ron Foley. I have a T/D recurve of his that is a real joy to look at and more importantly shoot. I know he is in the furniture business now, I wish he was still in the business.

Allen Boice. What a gem. I had two or three of his Liberty bows. I was fortunate enough to buy (and keep!) a takedown Liberty English. It’s 45# @28” so I should be able to shoot it the rest of my bow hunting life.
What a gracious man. I had him build a 50 lb bow. Shortly afterwards I found out I was going elk hunting and I convinced myself that I needed a 55 lb bow for that. (Probably not really.) Anyway, I called Allen about getting one made and he said “ Gary, I hate to see you get a bow for maybe just one hunt. I’ll just send one of my personal bows to you. You just keep it until you are done hunting with it and then send it back to me”.
And then when I went through my heart surgery, he sent me a bunch recordings to listen to while I was recuperating. Fortunately he is in a far better place now.

Dale Dye and Trails End Recurves. I regret selling the ones I had after switching to longbows

Jack Howard is a good choice. I'd go with Jim Reynolds or John McDonald.

A good indicator is the bowyer whose bow you rarely see up for resale.

Lots of bowyers I don't have experience with but top of my list would be Jim Reynolds.

Daniel;
I would have to agree, however John McDonald would be sitting right beside him. Both from WI. I lost a TS III and replaced it with a MOAB. Have a Big River recurve, mild D/R longbow and 21st Century clone D/R longbow from John. You could say I'm a fan of both. Still hoping the MOAB will make a comeback.

I had two Mohawk longbows made by Vince in Colorado. I sold them off due to the fact that they were just too heavy for me. Sure wish I could order a 45# tomorrow.
