Flying with one piece bows (or 3 piece)

Large duffel bag is the way to go.  We get our clothes, bows, and arrows for a one week hunt in a duffle and a carry on.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I like the duffle bag idea and might look into that a bit more and try to use my pack as my carry on. It's a 72 liter bag, and most airlines seem to set a limit at 45 liters, but I assume that is fully packed? I'm thinking that as long as I don't cram it full of stuff and keep it fairly small that I should be ok?

Kirk, I've thought about shipping stuff out, and might still do that with a few things. However I don't want to not have my bow to shoot for two weeks leading up to the hunt. That will be one of the last things that gets packed up.

I gave up on traveling with one piece bows.Because the airlines charge you enough to buy a new bow.  When I used to travel it was a p v c pipe.

I ended up getting the duffel bag that Witherstick uses. I think it should be just about perfect for what I need, and has plenty of room for my bow and gear. I'll be able to give a more definitive report here in a month or so.

I have a large duffel with a pull out handle and wheels on one side with a hard bottom.  I pack a 2 layers of close and lay my arrow box wide side up as an I-beam and a 2 piece take down on each side, then cloths on each side of the bows, on top of the bows, and on the 'end caps'.  This duffel is checked with no issue, been doing it for about 5 years as I got tired of the airlines wanting all that money for a pvc pipe as a 2nd piece.  I zip tie my zippers together and have never had them cut by TSA.

you do buy a duffel, that it will accept your TD with allowance for padding.

I have done for years what Terry did, clothes are a perfect soft protection for your loved bows.
One time I was able to carry 8 TDS in a single Cabelas wheeled duffel bag
