Recently got a 50th takedown. I tried one at KY tradfest this spring and just loved it. Very happy with it. Shoots smooth and love that grip! Pretty dang fun. Took it out this morning for opening day in Indiana. Saw 3 does and 4 fawns but nothing close enough. Lots of squirrels on black and red oaks, but not much for white oaks this fall.

For those of you who love Bear takedowns, you may want to check out the new 2024 offering… It looks like Bear is coming out with takedown longbow limbs.

The old ones work just fine.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

I think I have a Bear Kodiak Takedown addiction problem, now I own seven of them.  :biglaugh: I just bought this one with all bubinga riser a couple days ago. On the riser it has BTB-11 so it's a 2011 which is strange because all my information says all bubinga risers were made in 2012 and 2013.  :dunno:

Green is my favorite color. I ordered a pair of those a few months ago. When I got them I wasn't impressed with the finish and the glass had flaws in them. I sent them back.

Yeah I've had two sets (not the greenies) that I send back for finish and one was twisted something fierce.  These are nice.

Here are the new longbow limbs on a new A Mag and an A wood Anniversary, both make 58” bows but the A Mag has a 7.25” brace and the wood is 7.5”. The wood is a tad longer riser.

So how would you describe the longbow limbs when you shoot them.  They look good for sure!

Kelly,

I did see what you wrote on the other forum.  Thanks for that.  I will try to shoot them at Kalamazoo.  Never really been a longbow guy at all but I guess if they are completely silent they would have a place on one of my Bear handles.

I shot them more this evening, maybe 40 times. Used 1716’s and 1813’s weighing 460 and 440 respectively. Tried 7.5” brace but will go back down cause they didn’t shoot any better. Will try 7” or lower to to see what I can get away with. I really like how this thing shoots with the newer A Mag handle. Now I need to get a string built for it and also waiting  the 5# heavier limbs on order. If all goes well I may even order another heavier set.

Originally I shot it with stiffer arrows, 1816’s and 1913’s weighing 540 and 520 and they shot very well being only a 30# bow. I rarely shoot over 15/18 yards so it’s plenty quick enough for me. I very much prefer the stability and quiet of the longbow limbs, plus the forgiveness. Wasn’t going to hunt with my Bear TD because I couldn’t shoot it as good as my Black Hunter longbow, but now I just may hunt with it now.

Anyone try the new #2 limbs?  Seems like most gravitate to either the number 1 or number 3 limbs.  Thinking a b riser with number 2 limbs would be a decent combo for longer draw lengths.

I just bought a new set of no 2 limbs.  I do have a B riser, but I bought them to use on my A riser.  If this set is any indication, Bear seems to have overcome it's quality control issues.  Fit, finish and alignment are flawless.

They're quite quick for their weight, and I like the length for my just shy of 28-inch draw.   I usually shoot no.3s on my A riser, but these shoot and feel just as good, and I like the looks (bend of the limbs)of the strung bow a little better with the shorter limbs.

ESP.  I think they would make a very shootable, comfortable 62-inch bow on a B riser for longer draws.
