That would depend on which "world championship" you mean. Yes, there is more than one. I know the IBO (International Bowhunting Organization) has what they call a world championship and the Traditional Archery Society (TAS) also calls one of their tournaments a world championship. I imagine there may be others. Neither seems to have much participation from the "world".

I too have heard there are no where near the number of contestants you think would be at worlds.
