Looking for a knife maker
« on: August 17, 2024, 04:37:21 PM »
Hey folks,

Long story short my grandfather recently passed. Was hoping to find someone that can take a piece of fabric from his old hunting clothes & have it made into part of a handle for a nice hunting knife.

I was thinking a cool piece of wood & then a stripe/stripes or piece of his old camo in the handle.

I like a drop point blade & a finger guard but nothing too big. Prefer spines on the back of the blade for grip.

I’m not a metallurgist but would like a good strong blade that holds an edge well & would be my primary blade for skinning & gutting 4 legged critters.

Ideally a kydex sheath as well.

Sorry for your loss.

I think a good idea would be to make some micarta out of the fabric. I wish I could help you. I've made my own micarta before, and it's an easy process. Unfortunately, I put all my tools in storage to take a job out of state, so I'm not making knives these days. Just thought I'd suggest an idea.

Any luck in finding a maker to take on the project?
