Hackberry R/D
« on: October 09, 2024, 08:26:27 PM »
Here’s the hackberry bow the handle wrap went on. It pulls 34# at 28”, it needed to be under 35# at 28” was the weight they wanted, so it’s just under. The profile is a bit uneven since the bow shifted in the form while I was deflecting the handle. So the center of the profile is around the top fade instead of center of the handle. But it shoots well so I can’t complain.

If you’ve never worked hackberry I can definitely recommend it’s. It’s easily carved, bends well with heat, and takes a heat treat well.

Thanks for looking

Kyle

You can build one just like that for me, only i don't need the fancy grip... 45 @ 30" draw. That last one you sent me was totally out of whack.... Thanks, Kirk

Mo_coon-catcher: Nice-looking bow. I love the few hackberry bows I have made. They seem very light in the hand yet snappy. I want to try one with a toasted belly someday.
Again, great job.
