osage and purpleheart longbow
« on: May 23, 2008, 01:22:00 AM »
Almost done with this bow. I lost the r/d profile while braced. I guess I don't have this tillering thing down yet. It seems to be shooting good. 65" n to n. I think it's going to come in around 50-55. This is a wingnut/yellergnome clone. It is a learning journey. It is very true that what you put into the design dictates what you get out. I went about 3/8"'s in the osage lam and 1/8th in the purpleheart. I tapered the purpleheart The last 12", but not the osage not at all. The tiller would have went better if I had followed the Wingnut chapter closer. I have some details to work out with the tiller.

What arrow should work well? I'd like to shoot wood out of this bow. Hey Wingnut, any input?

Well, whatever you've learned in your journey, you can sure be very proud of that bow you've just created! Well done!

Looks great to me. I wish that I had the knowledge to create a bow as nice looking as yours.
Great Job!
