Do you start with a raw horn and work it into laminations?

Hi Folks
When I started with hornbows I myself processed a few. I'm nowadays using processed flat horn strips which is not traditional but handy. Especially since I can order them worked to pretty precise dimensions from India. After putting them through my thickness sander I can typically get 500x38x4to5mm which is enough for my needs.
If anyone is interested in that stuff I can handout my adresses in India....pm.
Cheers
