Question on Moving up in Weight On Bow
«
on:

I am at 40# @ 28" my drawings is 29" so that makes it 43# @ 29" is it worth it to move up to 45# or 47#, will I gain that much. Especially if I was to move to 45# or am I just splitting hairs. Right now with my set up I have I get
189 fps out of an arrow that is 435 gr for totally arrow weight.
Thanks for the advice

For hunting I am of the school to shoot the heaviest bow you can accurately. If you could manage to move up in weight it certainly won't hurt you. If that 42# is all you can handle then that is what you shoot. Your setup seems more than adequate for deer sized game...Mike

Thanks Mike,
Maybe I should just leave well enough alone, it's comfortable, I have had 53 lb. bow before, it was too much, I think I just get anxious, I should have gotten a 45# @ 29", but this one was on the list of in stock at Bob Lee, it's the "Hunter" series, the bow shoots better than I do, so I guess I should leave it alone, last time I shot it, I was smacking arrows together.
The only thing that I hunt is deer and bear, and that's plenty for both of them.

With the right arrow you can kill anything with that bow. That's some serious performance!

Well, generally, you would also change arrow weight, so all you gain is shooting a heavier arrow. Ever since I started shooting 66lb longbow, shooting my 50lb longbow feels really good.

Stay where you are at. If you change, you'll wish you didn't.

This Bob Lee is the first bow I've really enjoyed shooting, mainly because I'm not over Bowed. I could go up to 48 lbs. without any trouble, but in less I'd go up 50 or 53# the ratio is the same as far as arrow weight and speed, I was really surprised at the speed 189 fps, and have checked it at a number of places, and they're all within one or two fps of 189.
It is smooth, fast and accurate. Now I can understand those that have said " it's my go to bow" of course with me, it is my only one, so far !, put if I do get another one, I would strongly consider another Bob Lee. They're really great people to work with. I really like the "Hunter" because it was a economical three-piece takedown, it is not too heavy, and it is also not to light. The Eagle Flight Quiver, fits on it perfectly.
OK OK, I'll shut up about my bow, but I reserve the right to order another one in the future

Might consider another set of limbs?? A little heavier if you wish. That way if it feels a little heavy at first, you can swap back and forth with your regular set. That's one of the nice things about a 3 piece.

When the time comes I will probably do that, they are really reasonable, although I really should enjoy this one right now. Sometimes it helps to think aloud.
And also with

I think your good to go, Carl. Buck eight nine at 43# is smokin! I just picked up a very well used Fedora TD at the Baltimore shoot. About 50# at my draw and I'm downright scary accurate with that there bow. She ain't much to look at (named her Ugly Betty) but she sure can cook an arrow like no tomorrow! I was shootin with a buddy who was toatin a Morrison TD and she kept up just fine. Don't let go of that there Lee you got. Sounds like a winner, all way round. Shoot em straight.

I also found out I am more accurate, and more consistent with three fingers under rather than using split one up two down.
I am also going to use it as an illustration when I preach and Bikers Sunday, on June 8,08, the sermons going to be called " God is a straight shooter"
