Hey everybody I have been playing with arrow weight and Foc after reading Dr. Ashby's report. i have a question for you guys who have experience. I am shooting a 59# longbow and I have easton legacy 2018 aluminum arrow which weigh 575gr with out a head. I took a peaice of rope and slid inside the shaft and got a 870gr arrow without head. I was thinking of putting a 190gr head on the arrow and ending up with a 1060gr arrow (if my math is right)
So the question is, is this too much overall weight and if so should I try to find a lighter insert to fill the arrow to beef up mass.
My other question is with FoC should I try to get all my added weight up front with a product like the weighted inserts with adjustable weights?
I undersatnd that anything greater than 20% FoC helps a lot with penetration. I also undersatnd that losing arrow speed by increasing mass can also help penetration.
Any suggestions would be great, thanks guys
