Typically, dogs (meaning wolves) kill large game by pulling it down en mass and they start eating it from behind before the thing is dead. At leat cats tend to kill the thing before they eat it.
I have seen video footage of a deer with its head up watching wolves eat its hind quarter as it lay there dying. What a way to go.
Predators eat what is easy. People are VERY easy, even for younger predators. It will happen, already has with big cats out in California and a few other places.
The only saving graces in history is, as mentioned before, the people that experienced them in "the old days" typically were robust folks that had weapons. Even aat that, how does "history" know who was killed and eaten in the mountains or Canada's expanses when nobody was there to witness it or go looking.
Now the big predators are being seen near cities and we are moving into the country. As more wolves and big cats come on the scene, they will be pushed into new and far reaching areas. A younger Wolf from a NE Wisconsin pack was (car) killed in eastern Indiana a few years ago
Cats and dogs are easier to catch than deer. Your kids out playing are easier still.
