PA stickbow boy...no problem...that's a good idea...we've been thinking about that for some time,...but as other's have mentioned 'time' seems to be the problem.

There's always something going on here, and when this needs to get done we are all smack dab in the middle of bowseason...and STILL with all the stuff going on here.

Here's what I have thought about...honoring the animal and the bow...with no hunter in the pic...just the animal and the trad bow.  Those are always really nice.

Lets see what happens later in the year, and see how time treats me....and we'll request those types of pics and see what we get.

Thanks!....sometimes we need to be prodded to get things off the back burner and onto  the front one.

With Killie's (as always, sane     ;)   ) suggestion fresh in my mind - I went out to shoot my bow. Five papa - ratzies showed up in the woods and brush around my range, took my bow away from me, and started madly taking pictures of it. I was never so humiliated in all my life - however - my bow still has a silly grin on it's face. (Then I figured out it wasn't a suggestion but one of her ever-changing signature lines - LOL)

I humbly suggest any realized funds from the idea and calendar go towards the fund that a lot of us donate to, once a year or so, to help keep this wortwhile "ship of big hearted clowns" afloat on the internet.

I like the idea of just a pic of the animal only and the idea of a smaller corner pic of the bow w/ the specs. I'm still gonna do some of that homework. Till then, well everyone get those camera's out... oh yeah, the funds going to keep this great site afloat isn't a bad idea either

PA stickbow boy, if you wanna be the ram rod on this idea.......have at it.

You can post a thread requesting those type pics if you want....and get the lowdown on where to get the calendars printed and what not...and we'll go over it down the road a bit.

Hmm. My dead animal pics have the weapon in them. It gives context, so that's how I took 'em. It also gives a reference for scale. This is a whole lot less complicated than putting two pics on the page, or insetting one within the other. How many folks take their kill pics with no weapon in them? Just curious.

It would open a lot of doors for me to not have it limited to dead critters, too. Equipment, especially combined with good habitat/landscapes would allow me to offer more pics.

Every holiday season I browse the calendar shops and when I see all those wildlife, near-naked women, sports, tractor, and bridge calendars, I wish someone would do a trad archery calendar.  I'm glad someone's getting the ball rolling.

Personally, I'd prefer a calendar with NO dead animals...just pics of bows, quivers, or anything else related to trad gear. (sorry, i but had to put my 2 pennies in.)

A trad archery calender?  Outstanding idea!  Only pics of dead critters?  That doesn't do it for me.  I'd suggest a broader scope, like the entire trad archery experience.  Sure, there's a place for kill shots, but I wouldn't want only that.  My $0.02's worth.

Having said that, press on!  Again, it's a great concept.

Trad Gang is a trad bowhunting site, not a trad archery site, so there will be a few animals in it for sure!

Knife....I bet you could come up with a great pic of a few of your heads!

Killdeer has posted a few good pics as well.

I can see a contest coming.

Send in your pic and get a free calendar if you're one of the 12 chosen.

We will need specs on file size and how to submit them, as they have to be high-res enough to print out well at calendar size. Small stuff that passes on the web just won't hack it.

I use  www.yousendit.com  to send big files.  Works great and it's free for what I do.

From what I've found so far, there are 2 sizes of calendars. You have your 8.5 x 11 and the little bit bigger 11.5 x 14  The 11.5 x 14 calendars would have a bigger "hey look at me" factor. That size would be my first choice. I guess it depends on cost and printing availibility. I also talked to my brother-in-law who is an avid outdoor photographer. He said the same thing Killdeer said. You need hi-res pics so that when they are blown up for the calendar they look good. Frassettor posted on page one that he could help us out w/ the printing so we prob should find out from him what is required.

I went through my pics and all of mine have at least the animal and the bow in them and having one picture is probably easier to do.
