Finished my possibles bag/quiver
« on: June 04, 2008, 08:23:00 PM »
well i finally finished it. the bag was challenging enough, that was a lot of handstitching. my wife kept calling it my "purse" but i corrected her that it was a very manly hunting bag. The quiver turned out a little heavier than i wanted due to the fiberglass. i thought the hood needed to be fiberglassed though to strengthen it, the hood is constructed like a canoe with small cedar strips. I guess the wight won't matter much when the bag is full of sandwiches, and all the other junk i take hunting. I tried to squeeze six arrow holders into it but probably should have gone with 3 or 4. The burl is from a shed i found pheasant hunting last fall. i wanted to make the quiver removable for when i just wanted the bag so i just tied it on with some leather strips. the best part is the price, i got all the leather for 20 bucks with enough left over for an arm gaurd or two. the wood for the quiver was basically all scrap cedar and hickory. i totally respect people who make leather goods for a living, unless this one get completly destroyed i won't be making another one soon.

Looks great! Wish I had one.

Man, that looks great! You do have a ton of stitching in that bag, but it'll be well worth the trouble. Fine job!
