Hey Gang,
I recently went up to do some work with my cousin Andy (tradtusker). I bought a plain black Mini Boa 6 arrow quiver a few weeks before I went up, with the idea of cutting it down to 5 arrows (as I don't like too many arrows on my bow), and wrapping the top the of the quiver with some leather I got from an Ostrich I shot a few years ago with the bow. While I was up there, Andy gave me a huge hand with the project (he's a lot better at leatherwork than I am!
Thanks Bro!). It turned out great!
Here is the leather we used...
First we cut the top of the quiver with a Dremel tool....
Then we cut the leather in the right shape to sew down the sides. Getting this part right can be tricky and took a bit of trial and error. We used a scrap piece of leather as a template before we cut the Ostrich leather.
Andy sewing the leather...
Just before gluing the leather in...
I was more than happy with the outcome, and the quiver goes really well on my Wolverine longbow. I call it my "African bow" because it has Kudu horn limb tips, Kudu horn riser overlay, and now Ostrich leather-covered quiver! It's gonna look just the part when I'm back in South Africa next month!
Thanks for your help bro - much appreciated!
Thanks for looking,
Nigel
