Using Eclipse boadheads on carbon arrows
« on: June 16, 2008, 11:52:00 PM »
Anyone have any experience mounting "Eclipse" boadheads on screw in insert? I really like the way they look and would like to try them. I sent an e-mail to the company asking for advice but received no reply.

I use the old 145 grain Journeyman broadhead (now the Eclipse) on a 100 grain steel insert on an Axis 400 out of a 61# Pronghorn TD.  They fly like darts.

Yep, 145's on a 75 steel adapter.  Goat Tuff to glue them.  Just make sure to roughen up the inside of the ferrel.  Sometimes the teflon gets in there and you won't get anything to stick.  Missing one head in my Morrel target......

Check out the topic "The 75 Gr. Steel BH Adaptors" - as there appears to be a problem with the 75 grain adaptors.

JDice:
Thanks for the heads up, but if you read that topic further, its not the ones I'm using - these are from KK.  These are machined to a different configuration than the ones from 3-R.

The Eclipse ferrules are sized very similar to Magnus and fit on 11/32" Magnus adapters very well.     The fit the steel adapters well too.

While most heads are advertised at 11/32" there are slight variations, the Eclipse are right on and very easy to mount.

I shoot them on 125 steel inserts and they work great.  Blake has been out of town at a wedding so he was not around a computer to reply to your email.  He is usually really good about responding to inquiries.

Yep. 145 gr Eclipse mounted on 125 gr steel adapters fly great for me. Havent killed anything with this combo yet, but I have no doubts it will work great when the time comes.

I shoot the 145's with 100 grain brass arrow insert.  They have given good penetration and strength on 8 animals in Africa and a Red Stag

I worked up some 125's on the KK 75gr steel adapters.  Shoot well at the target, haven't put them to the real test yet . Going to try them on some Beman Classics.
It is a world with dew still on it, more touched by wonder and possiblitly than any I have since known.
