I have had no problems with the HIT inserts in the three years I've been using them. (Knock on wood!!)
I am about to install 6 more aluminum and 6 brass tonight with the supplied HIT epoxy. I clean shafts on the inside with Isopropyl alcohol…never though about cleaning the inserts but will from know on, always getting good ideas on this site.
Strength…well in the last year and a half of traditional shooting I’ve had the pleasure of testing the strength of the arrows/inserts and the epoxy. I was shooting my longbow last year (first traditional year) and got some target panic (along with some consistency errors) and missed the target(s) and sent an arrow(s) into the paver brick, garage brick, an occasional garbage can…beside the target, figured the arrows were toast. I walked up to the arrow(s) and the point(s) were scared up but the Beman MFX Classic 500 were all in perfect shape and as far as I can tell the insert never moved. One nock was backed out a bit but all the arrows flexed without sound and shoot great. I missed with a brand new POC, first POC’s I’ve ever owned and broke the first arrow on the first shot, it was a bit disheartening, hate breaking arrows.
I’ll be shooting my 3 400’s and 3 340’s with 100 grain brass inserts this weekend so I’ll have a better understanding of what is going on with these.
Just for general information I draw to 29.5” and my arrows are 30.5 for the MFX 500’s and 31” for the 340/400’s. Bows are listed below…love the MFX carbons.
