I think I may have gotten his picture today.  The moose that is.

Katie,

Is that the "moose" in that other thread you have out there? I can see how he could be mistaken for one!

On the last day of firearms season my husband and I were walking down the road when I saw a deer across the field near the woods. Then we realized it was a buck. He proceeded to walk into the woods where trees had been removed a few years ago. It had grown up with 5-6 ft. of small trees.

The buck stood in there for so long that hubby and I decided to try for it. We hot footed it to the house, I got my shaggie suit on and arm quard. I already had my bow and arrows.

I took off across the field near the house and hubby went back down the road. The plan was to get into position quickly and he would attempt to push the buck to me.

The buck evidently saw him coming across and took off through the woods and onto the neighboring property.

There is now a week of no hunting allowed. I believe Sat. the 6th starts our late archery season.

It ain't over yet!

You are going to get one! You have grit for going out in this cold stuff.  I have been camped in next to the woodstove with a book!  Our early bow split ends on Fri.  A few weeks of shotgun then we can go back out w/ the bows till mid Jan. sometime.  Just hard to pull a string when you have that many layers on.  I may take up the gun to get a doe on the table. Cheating, I know.  But we got to eat!!!
Good luck Girl!

Thanks Katie! It was fun to have my husband involved a little bit. He went out a few times with a gun this year. I think he was trying to show me how easy it should be! He never saw anything either.

Don't you just love those woodstoves!

I was looking for another thread and found this one. I couldn't find it when I was looking for it.

No deer killed by me. But a successful year none the less.

Thank you to all who followed along.

May the bow be strong and steady, like your faith. May the arrows departing it fly straight and true, like your love. May the days you carry it be joyous and numerous, and may it remind all who lay eye on it of the magic, wonder, and brevity of life. Make every moment matter, forgive yourself and others for the moments you missed, and holdfast to the promise that is given; you'll meet your son on God's golden shore and no doubt he will be grateful for the bow you've made in his honor!
