When I sent Doug an email asking about brace height, he called me to explain how he measures it. He said that he measures brace height to the back of the bow at the shelf.

Going by that, my brace height is at 8 1/8". I believe the range Doug recommended was 7 1/2" - 8 1/2".

My TC is set at 8" and it's the best shooting, quietest bow I own.

Mojostick, is that measured to the back of the bow as I posted, or to the deepest part of the grip as most measure brace height?

That's to the back of the shelf. I have Doug's old bow with the big brown leather grip he has on his site. The back of the grip is about even. If you go here, look at the 4th pic down on the right, 2 tone/stripes. I have the bow shown on the left.
 http://www.turkeycreeklongbows.com/pics.html

You know, when I first got it, I thought that grip was way too big. But it didn't take long to learn that it's AWESOME! I talked to Doug about 2 weeks ago about retro-fitting that very grip on a couple other longbows I have. He said send one down to try and he'll gladly custom fit one. It was his opinion that that many longbow shooters will be well served with that larger grip, for torque, etc.
I'm certainly no great shooter. But at least for me, that large grip makes me a much better shooter.
I had Rick at Striker Bows make me a Stinger, which I love, and Rick is first class, like Doug. Doug had nothing but praise for Rick and Striker. So that's going to be the first bow I send to Doug to try retro-fitting that big leather grip. If it doesn't work, Doug said just peel it off and clean up the grip.

If anyone wants to deal with 2 great guys, then look no farther than Doug from Turkey Creek and Rick from Striker. My Turkey Creek is 62", but my Striker Stinger is only 56", which I had made specifically for a couple tight quartered, great producing proven treestand locations.

With my 29" plus draw, I have realistic expectations about shooting the 56" vs the 62". However, with it's forward handle, the 56" Striker has no pinch or stack that I can perceive.

And in truth, I said in the 1st post that my Turkey Creek is the quietest bow I own. That is somewhat true. It's tied. My Striker is just as quiet as my Turkey Creek. I have Bow Hush and Hush Puppy's on both and about all you hear is the wistle of the feathers in flight.

Can't beat the Turkey Creek.  I sold mine recently because the grip was not quite right.  However I soon realised it was the wrong thing to do.  There would never be another T/C for me, so I managed - fortunately - to buy it back from the guy whom I sold it to.

I shot it again last evening for the first time in 6 months.  A truly awesome little bow.

I am very fortunate - have found my four keepers and will not need to waste any more time and money on bows.  My Turkey Creek is firmly planted in its place of my 4 keepers and will not be sold again.

I think Doug made these in mind with a very low B/H.  I shoot mine with about 63/4- 7" - seems to shoot well about there.
