My wife just got us one of these for us to learn with($3 at a thrift store). How do you figure out how long of a string to use? Also getting a 50# pearson hunter What spine would i need to get to shoot out of both of these if possible.

If the Parabow is one of the old aluminum ones, I would recommend not shooting it.  Some of the aluminum bows develop intergranular corrosion over time and can do some nasty things when drawn.  The bow is still a good find, tho.  Very interesting item for the wall.

The Pearson should shoot well with a 55-65 lb spine or 1916/2016 depending on draw and arrow length.  If in doubt, you are better off with a long stiff arrow than a short weak arrow.
