Bend in the handle bows?
« on: June 21, 2008, 10:06:00 AM »
I was thinking of building my next bow in the bend in the handle design.  Maybe 64" NTN and around 55@27.  Bamboo or hickory backed ipe of an inch or so in width.  Do these designs exhibit more hand shock?  Any suggestions? Thanks.

yeah...they'd normally have a bit more hand shock than a stiff-handled bow...that being said, they're fast and they can be made shorter/thinner than a stiff-handled bow, with no need for fadeouts, as well as the fact that its easier to tiller (in my opinion) (I'm lazy)...
good luck

I prefer bend through the handle selfbows and all wood laminate bows . They can have more handshock for sure but I tiller mine with a more circular tiller to lesson this. They also store more energy with more working limb and like heavier arrows as well . This calms them down a lot .
