FYI - Trad Community Lost Another Great Supporter
« on: June 25, 2008, 01:07:00 PM »
Posted this here also because a member informed me there is no NC forum. I would have sworn there was one - My brain is a little ragged this week. Three "Friends" in their 70's have passed this past week.
.........................................
This notice may also be in the NC forum (I didn't look first) but since "Herb" has always been a visible fixture at the shoot in Hickory, that this thread is about - I thought it belonged here too. Two years ago when I was at Hickory for the shoot, Herb rode the range paths on his golf court, greeting folks and asking if they were enjoying, and/or had any complaints. Last year I was unable to make the shoot. This year, I was happy to see Herb was sitting in the building there, and I stopped by for a moment to ask how he was doing this year. He indicated he was doing OK but one could see it must have been very difficult for him to be there, and to talk. His birthdate would have made Herb to be 71 this August. Bless his heart, and may the good Lord keep him in peace and pain free.

HALL OF FAME - PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY

HERB REYNOLDS

#1: Herb Reynolds
Inducted: February 19, 1994
At: 1994 NCBA Banquet in Salisbury, NC
Herbert Alfred ("Herb") Reynolds was born in Torch, Missouri (Ripley county) on August 30, 1936. Herb jokingly says, "They burnt the town down after he left!" Herb died on June 23, 2008.
He served in the U.S. Army in Ft. Bragg, NC. Met his wife of 45 years, Patricia, in Charlotte. She’s originally from Asheville.
He lived in Lincolnton, NC. Herb founded "Iron Station Bowhunters" in 1974. He’s been president of the "Carolina Traditional Archers" since helping found it in 1984. He says they won’t let him resign or just "quit", and he guesses he’ll have to die to get out of the job.
The one thing Herb most relishes about his involvement with archery over the years is working with young people and women and helping teach them how to shoot a bow and arrow.
Herb has taken over 100 whitetail deer with bow over the years. His biggest is a 16 pointer from Missouri. He’s also taken Wild Boar & Hogs; Bobcat; Fox; Squirrel; Doves; Geese and Quail with bow and arrow.
Nominated By: David Allen, NCBA President (1993)

Great Spirit,

Our Brother comes to you as swift and straight as an arrow shot into the sun.

Welcome him to his place at the Eternal Campfire.
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows..... Happy Hunting!!!

Sorry to hear of a loss of a good friend, 3 good friends, Bernie.  Life is so fleeting.  Folks with your type of good attitude is a pleasure to be around.

Herb will be sadly missed! The Hickory Shoot and CTA won't be the same without him.

He certainly was highly thought of, and dearly loved, from all I saw/knew of/about him.

Herb Reynolds at last years 2007 Sissipahaw.

Herb was an inspiration to all of us. Cindy and I are grateful that we shared a friendship with Herb. Herb was always faithful at attending as many archery events as possible and lending his support. Nothing held him back. Herb was also a generous man, sharing his knowledge and archery gear with Cindy and I. We will miss him. We appreciate all you've done Herb. Have a good journey.

I loved that old MAN!  What an insperation he was, or rather is!  I hunted with him on the Tombigbee River, in Alabama.  He was a dear friend and will be missed.  I'll smoke the Pipe for him the next time I head to the "River".
He always had a good tale to tell.
