Good FOC?
« on: June 27, 2008, 12:13:00 PM »
I've done some reading on here and done some searches and wanted to get some input on my arrow set-up from you guys.

Bow: 62# @ 28" recurve. I draw just shy of 28----about 27.5"

Arrow: C.E. Heritage 350; 145 gr. head;
        5"feathers.
       Total weight using pocket scale lokks to be about 560-570grain---hard to get exact on this little thing.
i've tried 2 different formulas aI found on here. I get 12.222 FOC.

Sound right? Is this good?
Haven't shot them yet---still waiting for the glue to dry.

Thanks for any help

Yep.  Sounds about right for your components.  Not high or extreme FOC, but until recently, most of us shot with about 10% FOC, give or take a percent or two because that's just what a standard head of 125 to 135 grains on a wood or aluminum shaft produced.  Should shoot well for you.

Made up four of them today and shot them a while before work. They flew great----like darts! I took my time doing the fletching and got a better helical on them which made a great improvement with spin than the last arrows I fletched myself.
Thanks for the input guys!  :archer:

If they fly well with broad heads, you should be golden.  High, or extreme FOC gives us light draw folks, and anyone hunting larger dangerous game far more penetration.  It's not required to kill normal size critters with a 62# bow.
I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!
