Wood Arrow Question?
« on: July 06, 2008, 12:44:00 AM »
Is there a way to get 70-75 lbs. spine arrows @ 30’ long , that weight between 500 – 550 grains, with field points and feathers on them?   Thanks
Blessings,
Steve

That's a pretty light arrow for a 70-75# spined arrow @30 inches???? But I guess you could call some of the sponsors here to see if they have any 300-350gr shafts in that spine??? You might also try using the lightest field tip you can find and drop some down in spine too. Both of which will get you closer to the 500-550gr range... You mind me askin what type bow and poundage you're shootin???

Steve:
If your only pulling 28 1/2" why do you need a 30" arrow?

I always over draw then settle into my anchor with my thumb behind my ear. I don't want a broadhead hitting the front of the riser.

Call Ted at Raptor, he will help you out. He just sent me 2 woodies to try with my new Widow.

If you ask Ted at Raptor for lighter weight shafts to begin with (you will want shafts that weigh under 400 grains full length), and seal with 'Tru Oil' you won't add weight with the finishing-that should bring you in at your desired goal of 500-550 for a finished arrow, using a 125 grain point. Get the shafting tapered as well to bring the weight down more.
