More feather questions...
« on: July 17, 2008, 10:29:00 PM »
I just put a four turkey feathers on an arrow, I didn't chop them into anything cause I wanted a flu-flu. They don't seem to slow the arrow down much and it sounds like jumbo jet when I shoot it.
I think I'll either put a couple more feathers on, or wrap one or two around the shaft.

My real question is, are retail feathers treated somehow? They seem kind of synthetic compared to these old turkey feathers I have.

I think once I get my feather grinding jig made I'll start using the crisp, fresh feathers from my turkey  :)  .
I really like this whole idea of fletching my arrows with my own turkey feathers, maybe once I get this down I'll start making my own cedars!  :D

Thanks
Bakes

Oh and another thing, is there food coloring/coolaid in flourescent orange/pink/chartreuse?
