Justin we are trying to help you if you read my first post and exactly what Shaun just said. Two weeks of shooting and your doing great!!! Thirty yards six arrows and only one nasty arrow fantastic! That's a lot better than alot of guys here can do.It's just that a lot of us old timers feel it's not necessary to shoot at game at those distances.

I wont be shooting that far as I dont feel the bow would kill fast enough. And it was just that one guy that rubbed me wrong. I just want to shoot this far because all my buddys shoot compounds and I would just like to stay as close as I can with them. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

The occasional flyer is probably due to a short draw.

Invest in a clicker and see if that doesn't clean up your groups.

It's important to get the right start before bad habits accumulate. If the clicker tightens up the groups, you can then switch to a simple bow sight for a while. You will be amazed at how this will clean up your form.

After your form is solid, you can then go back to bare bow or whatever. This method is a very direct path to instinctive shooting, gap or any other aimimg method. It's how they used to do it in the old days. Or, you can spend years flinging arrows, developing bad habits, reading books on becoming the arrow, watching videos and wind up stuck at 20 yards. Your choice...good luck!

I was just picking on you Man----nothing personal.

I think you are doing great, anyone who is shooting that well after such a small amount of time should be quite the shot after practice. I suspect you will be on the hunt for a new custom before you know it.

Justin, it won't hurt to read it if it isn't the only thing you read and you don't treat it as gospel.

I for one do not find tight groups at 30 yards to be all that exceptional or unexpected, especially from a young man like yourself.

I think it's a sad example of how the standard of accuracy has declined in recent years since field archery has been replaced by 3D and "get close" hunting standards.

There's nothing wrong with getting close when hunting, the closer the better, but at the same time there is no reason why you can't extend those tight groups out to distances beyond typical whitetail yardage and it's very much within the range of your abilities.

Should you choose to become more than a run of the mill archer, it's important to extend your goals beyond the mediocrity that is the norm these days. I'm not trying to incite any animosity within the bow hunting community, just stating a fact as I see it. Most, within the hunting community, are quite content to limit there shots and practice to under 20 yards as it meets their requirements quite nicely, as is evidenced by the responses you've already received to your accomplishments, but if you sense that you're capable of more, why not pursue it?

"Great Day In The Morning," you are shooting fine.
I was thinking just what James told you.
AND, the first posters hadn't heard that you had been an archer before your switch to trad. and just feeling you out.(I reckon. I too, was wondering about your fantastic success in such a short time)
Have fun...and a tip to get better at 30; step back to 45   :bigsmyl:    :archer:
Happy trails....   ('till we meet again, Dale Evans Rogers)
