Cheyenne or Shawnee?

For those of you who have shot both Morrison bows how would you compare them? Which do you feel is smoother drawing and less hand shock?

If you are asking about the recurve limbs on both, I prefer the the Cheyenne.  Not as much preload as the Shawnee, and the deflexed riser is more forgiving for me.  Wouldn't worry about handshock on either.  Nor speed, but I think the Shawnee may be a wee bit faster.     Both great bows.  The ILF is my favorite Morrison bow, though...and I've had a few.   :D

For me the Cheyenne. I have both but shoot the Cheyenne the best, it feels heavier in the hand than the Shawnee which is what I like. I need the mass weight to shoot well. Just came in from shooting my 56",63#@28" macasser beauty. Have not shot it in a while cause I have been in love with the Brack and Dale Dye. Dead on with it like always.

WOW! Tough question. I think the Shawnee is smoother only because of the new foam core limbs. My Cheyenne was boo core not foam. Now I believe Bob is putting foam in the Cheyenne limbs now.  Given the same limb material I might change my mind. Shock-don't have any in neither. Speed-once again, foam cores get a slight edge. I like the look of the Shawnee better but throw in some antler bolts on the Cheyenne and that changes. I know, I'm not helping you any. Both are awesome bows.

I have both....love both....shoot both well.  

They Cheyenne is of a more forgiving design as far as shootability with the deflexed riser....and 'seems' more pointable.

Other than that....all else is pretty equal.

I'm with Terry on this one. Have both and just love them.

It would be a hard choice to pick which one I like best as both are smooth drawing with no hand shock. Plus I shoot both equally well. IMO you can not go wrong with either.

I will say that the Shawnee with Dakota limbs is more appealing to the eye IMO but I have always liked the looks of longbows over recurves.

They are both performers.  It comes down to personal preference.

I've had both with foam core limbs.  For what it is worth, I don't feel there is a nickel's worth of difference in performance (but I do not chrono).  Both were incredibly smooth, dead in the hand, quiet, and very quick.  I did prefer the Cheyenne riser for exactly the reasons given above.  Additional stability due to mass and pointability and forgiveness were better with the deflexed riser.

Bottom line: I'd love to own another Cheyenne someday.

I've had both with foam core limbs, sold the Cheyenne, kept the Shawnee. "B" riser with "D" dakota limbs, oh boy is it a sweet shooter.

I second the Shawnee. Make SURE you try all of Bob's grip offerings. By dumb luck, I have learned I prefer and shoot well: The locator grip option. Just my 2 cents.

I am with Terry and Chris. I have both with boo limbs and shoot both equally well. I went from 64" limbs to 58" on the Shawnee and like it much better at that length.

I have shot both, but own the Cheyenne.   I like the deflexed riser, more forgiving.  Both are very quick, well made bows.  Bob does some great work, and is a class act.

I own and like both the Cheyenne (bamboo core) and a Shawnee (foam core).  For me the Cheyenne is a little smoother on the draw.  However, they are both really great bows.

MRD -- I am interested in your comment about the ILF.  I have not shot one -- why is it your favorite out of the three?   There is a really great looking ILF riser in the stock bow section on the Morrison website.  I was tempted to buy it but was unsure about the ILF system.

I really like the ability to adjust preload to get a comfortable and smooth draw that feels good to me.  I can adjust weight by about 5 lbs., too. Tiller can be easily adjusted, but I don't have a lot of knowledge on that aspect.   I've only shot Morrison limbs on my two risers, but there are a lot of very good and inexpensive limbs readily available.  

All in all, maybe it's just more room to tweak and tinker, LOL!

BTW, is it the mesquite/macassar riser you were eyeing?  That one surely caught my eye!

MRD -- I was looking at the Zebrawood and Ebony riser -- just checked and it is still out there.  That is one of the best looking wood combinations I have seen.
