Trading Turkey Primaries for Secondaries and Tail Feathers
« on: July 25, 2008, 10:42:00 AM »
Ladies and Gents: For years I have been trading primaries and/or finished fletching for unwanted secondaries and tail feathers. I prefer the secondaries and tail feathers to have their quills intact.I trade 1 pound of #1 quality primaries for 2 pounds of secondary wing feathers with quills intact or pound for pound on tail feathers. If you don't mind using #2 primaries the amount you get for your secondaries and tails doubles. Now keep in mind the worth of these feathers decrease in half if you shear them from the wing or tail. I have developed a tutorial on this subject as I actually most prefer that the wings and tails be kept whole and separate the feathers from the wing or tail clump on my end. Using borax is the key to this. It keeps the bugs away and slows down or stops the decomposition of the wings and tails depending on how much of the flesh is removed. You can view this tutorial at  www.angelfire.com/alt2/featherman  or simply visit my website and click on "How To".

I have traded with folks right here on Trad Gang such as Charlie Lamb, Doug Cambell, Eric Krewson, Little John(John Gowaty),Timo(Tim Ott),Tom Gholson,Onestringer (Scott Hesterly) and many others.

I also trade the grinding of your preferred primaries (LW or RW) for the opposite side and/or simply trade primaries for primaries. We do this by weight and not count as the size and quality of primaries widely differ.

If you are intertested in trading or just have questions, feel free to contact me anytime either by phone 660-646-0469 or my cell 660-247-2738 or you can e-mail me directly at [email protected]. Thanks! David Mitchell-Custom Feathers

David is definitely the man to do business with. I have 24 wings and 12 fans drying in the attic of my shop right now. Combine these with the 30 or 40 wings I already have and I will have a bunch to ship to him. We have been trading back and forth for years.

I found David's site after that guy with the shop in West Virginia stole feathers from me and cheated me out of money. The same guy stole 750 feathers from a friend of mine, claimed he didn't receive them when delivery conformation showed he signed for them. Like I said David is the guy to do business with.

Like David said, I've been doing business with him for years. Top notch service and quality ground (as good as any you'll find) REAL gray barred turkey feathers. There just isn't a better quality feather for the trad bowhunter.

I have traded with David in the past. He is a solid business person who does what he says, and does it without delay.

For the last couple of turkey seasons, I have been collecting all the wings, feet, and tail from anyone I now that has killed a turkey and been sending the to Dave.  He has been great to deal with.

Thanks again,

Scott
