A little PS to that...
If/when you head up the Dalton, PLEASE take the time to install a CB in your rig. Communicate your intentions to the truckers if you are going to attempt to pass (or pull over to make room)
Do NOT stop on the drivable surface for ANY reason.
Send me an email a week or so prior to leaving if you wish. Will fill you in on herd movements if I can. Will at least let you know what truck I am in so you can get outa da way ;*)
Bowhunters have a pretty bad rap with the Dalton truckers over behaviors that are just simple to remedy. You are HIGHLY exposed up there and being scrutinized by every driver.
You will have a GREAT time if you keep your wits about you and act courteous behind the wheel. If you act irresponsible the truckers will make your life a living #%!! They LOVE to target stupid folks and should you become the topic of conversation on the VHF radio, every trucker within 150 miles will know where you are and what ya done.
The bright side is that there are a number of archers at the wheel of the big rigs, and ANY driver will help you out in a pinch if you are reasonably responsible.
Again, I encourage you to put even a cheap CB in your ride
My best,
Scotty (who spends WAAYYY to much time looking out the window of a Kenworth along the Dalton)
