Considering I came from a 68" LB, my "short" bow is a 56" Shrew Classic Hunter.  Drawn to 32", this thing really slings an arrow.  I put it through a chrono and at 60#@32" it tosses a 675g arrow at 186 fps.  Tends to cause problems pulling arrows from 3-D targets as it sinks them 3-4".

I have a original 54" Shrew. It is so sweet and nice to shoot. Got 12 deer with it since I got it back in 2005.

56" is my favorite length.   Most people consider that short.  I would love to try the shorter shrew bows.

I just ordered a 56" Shrew Classic Hunter and have been assured by others like BobW that I am going to love it. Too bad I have to wait a year to find out.

Here's a Shrew 'Lil Favorite I got from Ron LaClair a few weeks ago. 54"/54# @ 28", Osage over bamboo limbs with walnut handle. A little quicker than the Super Shrew I had. Smooth & quiet.
Christian, you're so right. "Short bows are just so much fun to shoot".

I'm only as good as my first shot.

I tried building a short 54" recurve last year. I made a short riser and used some regular 58" bow limbs I had here. It really gained a lot of weight and seemed to stack past 27", but I think that is because I played with the angle on the riser and made it 16 degrees and not 22 like my normal t/d recurves have. I should have done one experiment at a time, lol.
