Map and set up question
« on: August 08, 2008, 06:51:00 PM »
Here is a map of an area I am going to set up this fall. The area is mainly thick nasty spruce and fir along the sides of a slow moving stream with high swale grass and alders. North is at the top of the map and the prevailing winds are from the NW. Just below the red dot at the elbow on the stream there is a deer crossing from one side to the other. A nice deer trail runs north to south along the whole stream just inside the tree line. I counted 20 scrapes along this trail in a 1/2 mile stretch last November. The yellow line is an old skidder trail that can be used for access. Where would you set up?

I'd set up on the predominately downwind side of the junction of the north south trail and the steam crossing.

After lifting the coordinates off the pic I'll meet you there!
