A&H ACS CX @40#

Anyone have one around 40#? if so how does it do? what weight arrows do you shoot? what is your draw length? how fast is it? I am thinking about getting one. thanks for any info.

Cecil,  My 66" is 42#@28. I am pulling 43#@28 1/2". I am shooting a 665 grain arrow 160fps. Some guys may not be impressed, but that's 15.46 grains per pound. If there is a more efficient bow I'm not aware of it. I had 2 sets of 62" limbs. The 66" limbs are faster and much smoother to draw.

My ACS 64in  is listed at 45# @ 28----I also pull 29"
With 605Gr wood arrows I shoot a consistant 165 avg.

i shot one of a friends
i believe it was a 41 lb and he had fairly light arrows "right around 400g"
sucker is fast. but it reminded me more of a recurve, than a long bow when shooting it.

I don't mean to highjack the thread, but what arrows are you guys shooting? I have an 62" ACS with 42# @ 28 limbs and have been trying 2115s, carbon express 150s, and various spined wooden arrows. It shoots fast and smooth but I have never actually measured the arrow speed. The arrows go pretty flat which may be recurve like I guess, but the bow is super light and a joy to carry around all day. ACS fever seeems to have died off a bit but if you like a more modern design they are a cool bow.

Would love to try one. I like recurves and if that bows is similar then I want to give it a go. Especially if I can launch heavier arrows with it.

Rick, right now I'm shooting two 66" ACS's, one is 43 at 28 the other is 44. I draw just a bit over 29" and am shooting both Axis 400's and CE 250's, both 31" long, with 200 grain field points.. Both will shoot a bare shaft like it's fletched. The 400's weigh 540 and chrono at 175 while the 250's weigh 590 and go 170.

I have a #37@28 64" ACS-CX.  I shoot a CX 150 Heritage with a 175 grain point.  Ends up being 570 grains total.  I draw 31".  Love this bow!  I was a "recurve guy" before I bought this.  Now my recurves are sold or gathering dust.

I'm really liking mine. I do have one question for you guys though.

I've never in 10 years had to use an armguard with any recurve or longbow I've ever owned. But this bow will tear my arm to shreads. Any key to gripping this bow?

I forgot my armguard one day and dang near had to drop out of the tournament...my arm had a giant goose egg for two weeks.

My brace is set at 7 1/4, which isn't ridiculously low.

Just got a PM from John Havard with some advice on grip. I'm coming over from a 21st Edge, which requires a much fuller grip...gonna give John's recommendations a try.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm shooting CE 150's 29" long with 145 grains up front, I'm going to fiddle with the weight a bit.

Mine's about 40# at 29" and I shoot 30 1/4" 1916S with 125 gr field points.

I don't own one, but shot a friends through the meter at a local shoot. His 41lb shot the same speed as my 53lb navajo apache, with the same arrow. around 420gns i believe. Anyhow they were cx100's full lenght with 175gn pts. Great bows and very fast lb for lb. DB

Thanks for all the info. I would like to shoot one before I buy but may not get to not many trad. shooters around here. I draw 27-27.5" thinking about 40# shooting 425gr-475gr arrows.
