head hunting

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some broad head impute. Im relatively new to hunting, I have never put a whitetail on the ground, only small game. So, I don’t really have a lot of experience with all the different heads out there.

I recently put a Magnus 125 head through a groundhog but was not very imprested with entry and exit. The head was sharp, but not scary sharp. For the deer woods this fall I was thinking a grizzly, STOS, or the Magnus. What do you think?

Im shooting a northern mist longbow, 66nch tall, 57#@27, im pulling about 28 so about 60# draw. Arrows are wood, about 580-600 grains. Looking for a 125# head.

if you've got the Magnus, get you an Accusharp and go to town...they're easy to get sharp...

Any of the heads you're considering are fine.  Left wing fletching will work counter to the right wing bevel on a Grizzly though.  Lots of folks shoot them that way though.

Muzzy makes a Phantom Series, 125gr or 220 grain. can be shot with or without the bleeders and they are sharp out of the package.

All of the heads mentioned are quite good and there are others as well.  Whatever you choose, get it SHARP!!

The Accusharp will work on any 2 or 4 blade head and probably on the 3 blades as well with some extra work to narrow down the edge.  Finish up with very light strokes and some crock sticks or a strop.  Get them sharp and you won't be disappointed.

I like the three blade broadheads.All broadheads are somewhat sharp out of the package,BUT you need to touch them up and get them real sharp.You`ll see the differance.

With the weight you are shooting you could use any broadhead out there.Find one that you can sharpen up well and carry on.  Nothing at all wrong with the magnus head you have now.jmo

I have had real good luck w/ the magnus stinger even the hand held knife/scissor sharpeners will work on this head just fine and are found at any wal-mart
