BH and NH For Dale Dye Recurve
« on: August 12, 2008, 12:29:00 PM »
What BH and NH (3 fingers under)do you folk use on your Dale Dye T/D recurves?  Also, if you have a non-FF 62" T/D Dye recurve, what length B50 string do you use?  My Dye T/D is 62", 54#@28".  I did a review of it in the Product Review forum.

Bill,

57" string on a 62" (56" on a 60"). Brace height 7 3/4" - 8" always worked on all of the Dye bows have or had (including the one I got from you)Nock height, you have to play with depending on arrow, release, etc.

Bill, I shoot split fingers but my Dye's BH is set at 8" and my nock is 1/2" above center.  Fred

Frank/Fred,

Thanks for your responses.  I'll check tonight and see where I have the BH and NH set.  Frank, I know you are shooting a B50 bow.  Fred, how about you?  I've given some thought to sending the bow off to have it reinforced for FF, but as it is it flings a 625 gr arrow, 11.6 gr/pdf, pretty good.  And it is very quiet and dead in the hand.  So, I think I'm going to keep it just like it is.

Bill, Mine is B50 as well and is dead quiet. My carbon arrows weigh in at 580gr and are flyin plenty fast for me. I see no need for FF on this bow.

My BH is 8".  I'll have to wait until I go to the Archery Shop on Saturday to check the NH.  It shot real well where I have it for my 3-under grip.

Bill, I shoot split finger and my Dye is at 8 1/4"BH and 9/16 nock dead silent and plenty fast, the string is 58" on this 62" bow. I shoot the same arrows as I shoot out of my ff bows and it is everybit as fast as they are even though it is b50 only. I have a 64" set of ff limbs I am gonna try on it that are 64#.

Danny,

Yes, the Dye is surprisingly fast for a bow shooting a B50 string.  The limbs have a rather exaggerated hook on the ends, very similar to a Wapiti recurve by Chastain.  The Dye bow, however, is a much sharper looking bow in every respect than the Chastain bows.
