lights out,showdown,terminator,wac em, grim reaper,nightmare, undertaker,buckblaster, game spy,sniper digital , rapid fire,preditor xtinction ya read that one again let it sink in, nite stalker, prey master,these are some of the product names out there that are being sold in the latest archery catalog I got does it make you sick it should it shows these manufactures of hunting products have no respect for the animals we hunt or for the hunt its self. and why should they its big busness the average hunter eats this cow dung up extreme this micro that catch phrase after catch phrase.Bow hunter check list 2008 1..game over compound bow ,cause after all killing animals is a game...6 terminator arrows...6 undertaker broadheads..octane bow quiver....team real farce release aid.... seven deadly pin sight..hostage arrow rest... mossyhead ache camo clothing with scent lock techno groove fabric...complete with facemask.. laser rangefinder so you can figure out which of the 7 pins to choose...shadow trek viper boots..x static scent eliminator plus underwear. freshly bathed in scent killer this and that oh and dont forget the preditor Xtinction trail cam.

Yeah it can be difficult to overlook the bs when it's all around us. And modern archery has more than it's share. Lucky for us this stuff is marketed to tinhorns who never leave the city limits anyway. So get away from it and breathe some mountain air for a while. You'll be the better for it.

I feel exactly the same way. The BS ceases to amaze me. I turned on a hunting show this morning before work and had to turn it off because of all the BS commercials.

I agree. I really dislike the the TV shows where teams of people score points for killing animals. And then they want to classify that as a hunting show. It's this sort of thing that really gives true hunters a poor image.

AS a archery shop owner it is know as the sale game. Why, have to have a new compound each year, and yes the new bells on the bow is a must have. Now the names are just the promo to get you to pick it up off the shelf. The ad game is big in our good old USA.

I agree with you Barebow, I tried the camos and all the gimmics when I was in the States and I think back to hunting in SA and I never wore it there when I grew up, I got closer to animals there in just Denims and a t-shirt.
I am not saying it does not work but I think the comercial value is more than the practical value.
Bowhunting with blaze orange I still managed to sneak up on a few deer, did not get a shot but they should have seen me...
Years ago in SA they came up with Blue cammo and that was said to work the best why I dont know.
All I know is someone is making money out of it and maybee to expence oh the real hunters

As for the tv shows, I cant be bothered. Most of the ones I've seen are on ranches and that to me is like hunting a waterhole in SA from a built blind, kinda like canned hunting.
Dont mean to offend anyone but thats how I feel and maybe thats why the tv shows dont apeal to me.

Look at it this way, as long as bowhunting and hunting in general is such a large part of the economy. We are good. Hunting employs so many people, people making livings selling that techno stuff you speak of.

I think you have found the right place if you are not attracted to all the names etc. of modern arrow launching gear. However, this is not the place to stand around and beat on what we think is wrong with hunting...but a place to focus on our unique way of life.

Let's move on to that....
