Help on handshock w/ my Widow lX 66"
« on: February 24, 2007, 12:36:00 AM »
I have wanted a Widow longbow for sometime.  A few months ago I came across a killer deal for a 66" LX-Bocote Longbow 2003 t/d system, much less than you'll ever see one for.  I had to jump all over it!!!  I thought this was the one.  I shoot it decent but this hand shock has GOT to GO!  I have tried changing brace height, Heavier arrows, different string silencers and am at a loss.  I am fairly new to Trad. though but I am loving it Trad. so far.  Finally have 2 kills under my belt w/ my MAII.
I have heard That is just how these longbows are.  This thing will literally rattle you and just about give you a headache after enough shots.  Maybe my MAII w/ an 8 5/8" B.H. has spoiled me though.  My Checkmate Crusader has much less than my LX Widow.  Pls. help if you have any suggestions or ideas.  Thank you!

Hi Stik, I've owned 2 widow longbows still own a new style t/d as a matter of fact it is my go to bow. I have felt hand shock in every longbow I've ever shot except the widows. The one I have now is 57 lbs. and I shoot a 605gr arrow off of it. I use a hand down or broken wrist grip and its absolutly dead in my hand on release. It just occured to me that you may have a non fast flight type string on it and that will make your teeth rattle. Try a new string either from widow or anyone making a D-97 string.

Try the smaller size limbsavers,  They go on the belly just past the fadeouts.
1 Corinthians 1:18

For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.
