Wilderness Elk Hunt
« on: August 29, 2008, 05:27:00 PM »
Hey Gang,

I'm just about to start the drive out to Colorado for a solo wilderness elk hunt.  All the preparation is now about to come to realization. Hopefully I'll have a few stories to tell when I get back(and hopefully a couple steaks to eat).  Say some prayers for me would you fellas.  Cheers, Matt

Good luck to you on your solo elk hunt Matt. I went out to CO. 2 years ago and hunted the San Joan Mts. with a friend. It was my first elk hunt and first time in CO. Even though the hunt was not successful(darned elk hadn't got there yet)it was an experience I will never forget. Hopefully I can go again some day.
Enjoy your time out in the high country and bring back some good stories for us...and most of all have a safe trip. Aim small, miss small!!!     Pat

Matt,
I'll be embarking on my solo wilderness elk hunt here shortly as well.... it'll bring me comfort to know there's another fella just like me out there.  Enjoy the backcountry and good luck with the elk, can't wait to hear the story when you get back.

Wilderness Elk Hunt, it has a great sound to it!  Solo adds another element to it indeed.

I am heading up North to Oregon solo, but I'll be hooking up with my 2 buddies and we'll be heading off into the wilderness we will be in there for the duration of the season.

I've been getting in shape with 2 backpacking trips under my belt.  I am packing up my gear and checking it twice, we are planning on setting up ultralight spike camps where the elk are.

I've been blowing on my elk diaphrams and I've got to tune up my abe and sons bugle.  Man, am I excited.  I've been shooting my broadheads a bunch and they are behaving in flight.

Hunt hard you guys, hunt smart!

Enjoy and god luck Matt.  Two of us went out last year and had a blast.  Didn't come home with any elk meat but we was among them!
