I have been looking at the Black Douglas from Border Archery.  The 17" and 19" inch risers have 2.5" and 3.5" sight windows respectively.  That's pretty small.  Since you have had experience with this small of a sight window, would you recommend a bow with this small a sight window?

Any idea why their riser sight windows are so small?  Other 17" risers like the Dalaa look a lot bigger.

I have the 17 inch ultra and the sight window is just fine.
I shoot with no aides and cant the bow slightly.

Just remember with the 17inch ultra the limb pocket changes as well I think takes the draw weight up 3 or so pounds. My 65# limbs draw 68# on the ultra riser.

Seriously I dont think he sight window will bother you.
Black Douglas 68#
Wing Gull 60#
Hoyt Havoc 80#
Coupla other wheelies.
If ya gonna be stupid, you better be tough!

I have the Swift but only because that is what Sid recommended for a 60" bow. (Heavier riser/more stable). I confess that I don't think about sight window much. I am sure you will get use to either. You can email Sid and he is pretty prompt usually about getting back.

Oh!, in answer to your question I'd recommend a Border over any other recurve ! (Yes, of course I am biased)!    :D   I own two of their recurves but currently I am shooting my new Border Griffon GL longbow and I confess I am really enjoying that bow though it is a completely different feel and currently anyway, a bit more of a challenge!      :D      It's speed is amazing-not far behind my Border RECURVE by more than a few FPS (though a pound heavier on the GL and having the XP30's on the Swift).

Thanks a lot for the helpful replies.  Makes me want to spend money!!!

I shoot a couple versions of the Black Douglas- Mark II and Ultra, as well as a Reiver, and I must admit that I have never noticed this! I will have a good look tonight, but it strikes me that this would largely only be noticable if you had one eye closed, correct? I must admit that I have shot a number of my other bows, and never  noticed the difference with any of them. Just not a factor that affects my shot placement.
That said, my Borders are my go to bows! Trying to save up so that I can afford another one......

Here's a bit of a comparison for you. Top down- MarkII, Rob Roy, slightly older Black Douglas XP10, Black Douglas XP30. As you can see, there is quite a difference. However, I must admit, embarassingly- that I had not even noticed this until you mentioned it!
