Noisy Wing Gull
« on: September 03, 2008, 10:52:00 AM »
I am trying to get my Wing quiet.
Here is what I have done so far.
Cushion the string where it makes contact with the limbs, wool puff on the string changed that to rubber string leech. Changed the brace hight.
All for nothing still noisy and with a lot of shock or vibration?
Any ideas?

the brace hight is just a touch over 8 inches, arrows are 2315's, older string not fast flight.
Arrows are 540grains.
I did not count the strings but I think I put around 18-20 twists in it

2315's are waaaay to stiff so you may be hearing arrows slap riser.  Maybe 2213 if you are going to shoot aluminum

Leon, you mentioned u cushioned the string. Did you put material on the limb or just wrap the string? I am not a fan of the string leach but I have seen folks use them with good success. I prefer beaver strips on each end. I have seen both leach and wool ball used at the same time. I also agree that the arrow is too stiff, load the front up or try a weaker shaft. I would opt for more weight in an arrow as well. What is your draw length? how long are your arrows? What material are you using on the shelf & side plate. Feathers or plastic vanes? How tight are the knoc's on the string?  Is this bow 64" long if so maby a little more brace height.
