Takedown bows where the limbs attach to the "back" of the riser.  What's the benefit of this design (if any)? And who else makes bows of this design?  Thx.

Just a little different design.  Because the throat of the grip is ahead of the butt of the limbs, or nearly so, it's more difficult to unintentionally torque the bow.  On the other hand, for the same reason, all other things being equal, which they usually aren't, the limbs don't bend as far for a given draw length so they store less energy in a force/draw curve, i.e., they're a little less efficient than limbs that are attached at the back of the riser.

Point well, stable shooting platform, hard to torque (as mentioned).  Just a good design some folks like and find easier to shoot.  No better than any other forward or deflexed riser IMHO.  I have a PSA but would love to have a Kwyk styk.

what Orion said, plus though you can make the bow shorter because you have more working limb with the "shorter draw" so the limb can be drawn further or shortened beyond what would be "normal"
Silence over speed.  Heavier arrows never hurt.

Randy! You bow snob! LOL, I'd probaby love your Habu's too.  I'd probably love all your bows.  Let's get us a package deal on a couple of Kwyk Styks, I know you can pick the prettiest woods.

Danny, cut a deal & i will pick the woods!
Magoo...
as far as the Habus go, they are heavier as compared to a standard riser...morrison, a & h, etc. and some people don't like that...

From a structural perspective the "Black Widow Type" is also a stronger design. When the bow is drawn the base of the limb is forced into and braced by the riser. The limb bolt acts as a force pivot point.
On a face mounted limb, the force tends to pivot the limb base away from the riser.

Seems to me you would need a really long draw to see any benefits of that design. Hand is way too far forward in my mind to get all the juice out of the limbs. JMHO

Keuka ,I dont think that there would be any structural advantage in either design . I think it comes down to personal preference. I have shot both a BW and A Habu and I prefered the Habu but thats just me .
I love Bowhunting!!!!
