« on: September 08, 2008, 10:22:00 PM »
just ordered a summit bushmaster climbing stand from cabelas. i've got an older summit with the bar in front but this one seems to be a little nicer for recurves and my longbow especialy. any of you guys got one of these. i think that they are a deal for the money. atleast it looks nice from the pictures.

Got one.. nice for the price but I still thing the bars limit my shooting some with the LB...

But at half price of the LW, I'll keep using it!

bushmaster is a nice stand. you will enjoy it. I use the goliath but I'm fat and I like the back rest and forearm support. lol

I know its open front... but those side bars... they come farther forward than you think at first... especially the higher you go (I tend to lean a little back...)... you'll notice them as you hunt .

the new one seems to be a lil different and stop a lil shorter... But for the price, a great climber

I used a Bushmaster pretty hard for about 5 years.
Don't plan on shooting directly sideways or slightly behind you, can't do it with the bars. Kind of clumsy to pack and a little noisy going on the tree. Climbs OK. Very stable and comfortable. I could take a nap in mine. It was great for extended hunts.

I have used a Lone Wolf Alpha climber now for the last several years. Beats the Bushmaster in every category except comfort. It's like sitting in a straight back chair.

I've had one since they first came out around 2000 or 2001.  It's the only climber I have ever owned.  One of the best pieces of equipment I've ever bought.  I killed 5 deer the first 5 times I climbed a tree with it.  I've never had any problem shooting out of mine in any direction, whether it be to the sided or quartering off the back.  I set my seat pretty low, and I do tend to shoot my bow almost vertical, so that would make a big difference.

I have had one since they were the new model. Great stand for the money. Side and back shots are limited with the bars, but you can lean out and around if need be. Very stable. You can put them up very quietly if you PRACTICE before season, moving slow is the key. Same with climbing....I have had deer come along right under me while I was climbing. The worst part for me is putting my feet in to the straps at the end of the hunt, but with the rapid climb stirups, you wont have that problem.

I have a bushmaster and have no problems with it.  I use a bungee cord around the seat part when i get where i'm climbin,  its very lite and i've had it fall when standing up.

definitely a good stand for the money. Almost too comfortable(ive dozed off a few times). I've been looking at the openshot model, since it dosen't have the side bars, for easier shooting. It looks a bit easier to pack as well.  -Chris
