A couple of months ago I was over at my friend Tim's telling him I'd like to make an arrow stand for this new hobby I took up. I explained that most bow and arrow racks hang horizontal on the wall, but that I didn't have enough room on my walls at home to hang a horizontal 62" longbow, so I was thinking about making a seperate arrow stand, and then something to hang my bow vertically on the wall. Tim has a woodshop in his basement, is good at woodworking and, being one for a challenge, started brainstorming idea's. I explained to him what I wanted in the arrow stand. Something to hold my arrows and a drawer to hold my stuff. Tim came up with a basic design, grabbed an old wormy piece of walnut he had laying in his basement, and in our spare time we went to work. The idea's began as soon as we started working on it. First I ordered an arrow head I intended to use as a knob for the drawer, but then I found some antler burr drawer knobs on the net and decided I liked those better. More cutting, sanding, etc. Then we got the idea to inlay the arrowhead, first into the bow hanger, then we decided as the arrow stand progressed to inlay it into it instead. I got on the internet and found this poly resin stuff that is clear and starts out liquid, then turns to hard clear plastic when it's done (you may have seen paperweights made out of the stuff) So we routered out a basic shape into the top and inlayed the arrow head. It was many hours of cutting, sanding....sanding.....oh yeah did I say sanding? (hardwoods ugggg) and staining, varnish etc. We also took a bandsaw and cut out part of a deer antler....mounted on the top portion so I could hang my shooting glove and arm guard from the tip of a tine. Anyway enough description, here are some pic's so you can see how it turned out.

That's about it....we still have to get another board to make the bow hanger. Gonna use walnut again, and use antler to make what the bow hangs from. I'll post some more pics when we get that part done.
