ND Trad hunters?
« on: September 09, 2008, 10:50:00 AM »
I live in Kindred, ND, and am wondering if there are any other trad hunters in North Dakota?  I just started shooting trad bows, still use my compound most of the time to hunt because I just don't have the confidence for the recurve or longbow yet.  I'm shooting a Samick Leopard and a Bear Montana.  Good luck this fall!

Jamestown here. Yes, there is a good number of trad hunters in the state. If you get to Fargo, check out the Sandhills Archery Club. I know there are some very good stick bow shooters that belong to the club. I think they might even have a trad league in the winter.

Dickinson here.
we have a few trad hunters here and a number more who shoot trad for fun. We've had a trad only shoot here the weekend after fathers day the last two years. Not sure if I'll do it again next year or not.
Williston has a lot of trad guys too.

Fargo here.
Come to the Sandhills Archery Club.  We'll have a traditional 3D league night.  We get anywhere from 12-15 guys shooting trad on league night.  League starts in mid-January and I think it will be on Tuesday evening.

Carrington here.
I decided last year that I wanted to give traditional archery an honest try, so I sold my compound and all the "stuff" that went with it.  I figured I'd HAVE to learn to get better with my longbow, not having the wheels to fall back on.  I shot a doe on sept 5th, still waiting for a buck to make the mistake of getting within 15 yards!

Grand Forks. I started bowhunting with a recurve in 1965 with my dad. Killed a 8pt buck in 1972 on my birthday 3weeks before I left for basic at Ft Leonard Wood MO. Hunted sporadically(with a bow) after I came home. Tried the wheel thing for a couple of years- shot in a league in MN, but it was not the same. I went back to the recurve, shot one year against the compounds. I have not hunted with a bow in about 10 years, but am planning to this year. Bought a new Kota, and like it.
