New to Traditional. Help Please

I've been shooting wheels for years, but have always wanted to shoot traditional. I picked up this 1963 Kodiak Magnum on **** this week. It's 45# at 28" and 52" long. I suspect I overpaid by $25 or so but I'm not worried about it...i'm just ready to start flinging arrows...which brings me to my question:

My drawlength should be a bout about 27.5"    Can anyone suggest a specific arrow set up to get me started off in the right direction.  I'd prefer to start with carbons for simplicity sake.

I shoot AD trad lites out of all my bows which fall in the range of 45 to 50lbs @ 26. My point weight ranges from 200 to 300 grains (head and brass insert) up front.

My dad has been having good luck with the Vapor 2000's, that Sipsey River sells, and Easton HP 600's out of his bows which are 40 to 42 @ 27. He is using 125's with all his rigs.

Whichever shaft you choose I would recommend reading the bareshaft tuning info on O.L. Adcocks or A&H Archery's site. This will get you started in the right direction.

A 1916 with a 125 grain head and cut to 28.5" ought to get you on the right track, possibly a 2013. Heavier head weights could move you into a 2016.

Try Carbon Express 150's and experiment with the amount of weight up front.  That should be the ticket.

Nice Bear! I am new too to Trad and really to Archery altogether. I used to be an avid Aluminum guy up until yesterday when some much more experienced guys proved me wrong and set me straight. I was just having bad luck with carbon. I have been looking at the Carbon Express 250 but my bow is 50# @ 28 draw and my Draw is 30".

Good advice from everyone so far. For economy sake, I'd go with Chris Surtees reply. Those Carbonwoods are a great choice, though supplys are limited.... Sipsy River may have a ton of the 2000 size, though.

Charlie is right about the CE being expensive.  I have had good luck with them though.

i use the carbon express thunderstorm youth arrows.  they are pretty inexpensive and i get them at wal mart.  they are made for 30-50 lb bows and fly like absolute darts out of my 45 lb longbows.  i change out the vanes for feathers.

1916 If your going to be shorter on arrow. Maybe try 2016 at 30" with a 145.

The spine chart at foxfire traditional is pretty darn close for me.  

Figure out your true draw, then go from there.  A business card or hunk of cardboard stuck on your arrow is a good draw checker.

Welcome to the otherside. Hope you have many hours of enjoyment shooting that bow. It shore is a purty one!
