Sanding nocks for better fit???????

I was just curious if any of you guys and gals sand or lightly file down your nocks for a better fit and noise reduction.  I have noticed some noise and I am almost 100% sure thats where its coming from.  As soon as I release I hear a little click noise just like when I am nocking my arrow.  So if you do how much do you do and is it just enough to where the arrow wont fall off the string?

A much easier and safer fix, is to change your string serving to a smaller size. Its a one time fix and there is no worry about a nock breaking.

yes, I do sand the snap part of the nock, but as said above fixin the string serving is a better fix. The strings and servings we use are typically larger dia. than those of compounds. And some nocks are WAY to tight. So on my uninocks I have to sand where the bohning classics are usually ok. to tight nocks can cause all kinds of problems

I sand mine a little too. With an arrow nocked and the bow pointing toward the floor, I want to be able to tap the string lightly and have the nock come off the string.

I also sand mine lightly to improve fit if needed. Just don't sand into the throat of the nock. Lightly sanding on the inside of the nock should not cause any increased chance of nock splitting.

I use a small bastard file, it works perfect to make my nocks fit as pseman said! Shawn

An emory board works great.  Just don't let your wife see you sneaking it out of the make-up drawer.

just started sanding mine also....those unibushing nocks are tight

How does this method work in comparison to Hot Water?

I use the hot water method. Nocks stay smooth and can always be reshaped for a different string.

I sand mine a bit with an emery board.  Carbon nocks are jsut way too tight for my taste.

Thanks everyone I appreciate all the replies.  Season starts this week so I will get it reserved after the season for the ont time fix.  But for now I think the quick fix is to lightly sand the nocks.  Good luck to all and becareful.

Like others, I lightly sand until I get the nock to pop off the string when lightly plucked.
Someone please fill me in on the hot water method, that sounds interesting.

I agree. It always mae more sense to me to change one serving instead of sanding several nocks.
